Description of Invention: The use of titanium for the body of musical instruments. Anodizing is one special feature of Titanium which adds a superficial cosmetic appeal, of course. The surprising result of experiments with the Titanium flute prototype was that the sound had a stronger series of overtones making the projection of the sound very good. The other important advantage for the musician is the quick response of the instrument to the beginning of a note. Experiments at the UVM Physics lab have demonstrated that these are characteristic differences of titanium. One further advantage for flutists is that the lighter instrument is easier to hold for long periods of time, which is especially attractive given the awkward position needed to play it. As an additional bonus, most high quality flutes are made of silver, which tarnishes, and it is soft and easily scratched or dented. Titanium is much more durable and doesn't show any change in appearance over time.
