Financial Savvy – Modeling Your Business Betsy Walkerman has been teaching financial modeling to entrepreneurs since 1995, when she founded Headwaters Strategy. A lawyer by training, Betsy was General Counsel, Chief Financial Officer, and VP of Strategic Development of Aspen Technology, Inc., a classic MIT spin-off, from its founding in 1981 through development of its IPO strategy in the early 90’s. She integrates financial, legal, marketing, tax, and organizational considerations, specializing in entrepreneurial strategy and technology licensing. Betsy has coached dozens of entrepreneurs, particularly technical founders. Betsy will provide an introduction on how to ground your creative ideas in solid numbers. She will provide examples of how we can capture intelligence that goes well beyond financial projections, and how the models sharpen and integrate our understanding of customers, their buying process, and how this relates to revenue assumptions, marketing strategies, operations, growth and financing plans.
