Topic: "InventVermont Hosts Discussion with Leahy and USPTO Director David Kappos on Patent Reform and Job Creation"

Increasing the Probability of Successfully Commercializing Your Invention

James Richardson will talk about how to increase the probability of earning income from speculative inventing. He will address the success rate (approximately 5%) of realizing a monetary return from a market-driven patent and suggests methods by which a first time inventor can dramatically increase those odds before running out of funds and giving up.

Mr. Richardson will illustrate his points by using examples of speculative new product development for past entrepreneurial clients, some successfully marketed and some ending up as total failures. He also illustrates 3D modeling, stereo lithography prototyping, and how certain limited run manufacturing options can help you get to a test market affordably.
