It's All About the Green!
It seems like you can't open a magazine, read the paper or go to a website without seeing the words, green, sustainability, carbon footprint, environment, global warming or energy somewhere in the text. Today there are a number of organizations and initiatives in Vermont that offer technical assistance, financial resources and network connections to businesses interested in sustainability and the green products sector. A decade ago, that wasn't necessarily the case. The Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund (VSJF) was created in 1995 by the legislature to pioneer and expand Vermont's emerging, green economy. They were ahead of their time! The VSJF's charge was then, and is now, to build markets within Vermont's natural resource industries and the green economy including:
- Sustainable agriculture
- Forest products
- Biofuels and renewable energy
- Environmental technology
- Solid waste / pollution abatement
As a market builder in Vermont, the VSJF brings statewide sector focus and expertise, expanded networks, grant money and technical assistance to the table. We do this through:
- Early stage grant funding for projects in our core market sectors
- Technical assistance and sector expertise
- Market building strategy expertise
- Business network support and connections
Our Peer to Peer Collaborative program works with Vermont growth company CEOs to help them define their business strategy, better understand company financial drivers and opportunities, and help their management team grow their skills to take the company to the next level.
The VSJF funds economic opportunities that provide social, environmental, and economic returns to Vermont.
If you're an entrepreneur with a forward thinking idea that can help us grow Vermont's green economy further, faster, come learn more about the many resources available to you in Vermont.
