Mr. Manock has practiced professionally in both California and New England,
combining creative idea synthesis, human factors, a working knowledge of
high, medium, and low-volume manufacturing processes for metals, plastics,
and wood, with the ability to plan and carry a project from concept sketch
through models and working drawings to the finalization of tooled production
prototypes.
Mr. Manock founded a product design consulting business in 1976 and has also
been employed by consumer electronics companies Hewlett Packard, Telesensory
Systems, and Apple Computer where, as Corporate Manager of Product Design,
he had responsibility for the Apple II, Apple III, and original Macintosh
personal computers. Other consulting projects have included sports and
medical research equipment and passive solar architectural design.
Since moving to Vermont with his wife and two daughters in 1985 he has been
involved with teaching at both UVM and Burlington High School, and is the
Executive Director of the Nyctea Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that fosters
computer literacy in graphic arts in Native American secondary schools. He
is currently active in helping plan a grade 9-14 Institute of Career
Academies for Chittenden County as a member of the Curriculum Design
Committee, the Technical Education Committee, and the Site Selection
Committee and was a member of the 2000-2001 Leadership Champlain Class,
sponsored by the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Manock
graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in
1966 and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, in 1968.
