UVM Resources for Vermont Inventors
UVM has a number of resources of both the human and equipment variety potentially of value to Vermont's small businesses and inventors, but approaching the university can be intimidating and the contract work scary. Kerry Swift will discuss what's the process to gain access to equipment? What's the best way to approach a professor with a project? What are UVM's typical research contract terms and why? This presentation will give a brief introduction to the answers to these questions and hopefully begin new collaborations between UVM and the Vermont inventor community.
As an example of the University of Vermont's many available resources, Tobey Clark will discuss the Instrumentation & Model Facility (IMF). The IMF's mission is "Turning Ideas into Instruments". For over 30 years, the IMF has been the University of Vermont's centralized source for custom instrumentation design, development and fabrication. IMF provides the most innovative, high quality, cost effective and timely custom instrumentation services available at the University. These services are available for all University of Vermont departments, other universities, healthcare, government and local industry at reasonable rates.
