Merryn Rutledge
ReVisions
Merryn founded ReVisions in 1995 to assist leaders in envisioning excellence
and recreating their organizations. Recent projects have included guiding
organizations, boards and teams toward performance excellence, advising leaders
who face management challenges, guiding strategic planning, and program
development and evaluation. Through organizational assessments, facilitating group
process and informal consultation, Merryn helps clients enhance performance,
management skills, decision-making, communication and team dynamics, and manage
conflict and understand diversity. Clients come from all sectors and include
national and international companies, health care organizations, many public
agencies and numerous non-profits.
Merryn is the author of the book Strategic Planning Guide for Leaders of
Small Organizations, has contributed to two other books, and frequently writes
articles on leadership and management. As a VT Performance Excellence examiner
for VT Council for Quality, Merryn has joined teams assessing organizations
using the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, and she
frequently advises organizations on issues relating to leadership development,
planning, customer and market focus, human resources, work processes, and key
performance indicators.
After earning BA and Master degrees from Smith College, Merryn taught for
many years, both in the US and abroad. At Phillips Exeter Academy she honed
skills as facilitator and manager by leading faculty professional development,
supervising dormitory staffs, and leading multicultural school reform. Beginning
in 1990, she led professional development workshops throughout New England, at
US and Canadian professional conferences, and then founded and led the VT
Equity Project for teacher professional development. Merryn frequently teaches
for the VT Business Center at the University of Vermont, VT Council for
Quality, the VT public manager program, and at St. Michael’s College (VT.) Merryn is
currently (2005) a doctoral candidate in Leadership and Policy Studies at the
University of Vermont.
