VMEC and Eureka! Innovation
The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) has been helping Vermont's approximately 2,000 small and medium sized manufacturers increase their productivity, modernize their manufacturing and business processes, adopt advanced technologies, reduce costs, and improve their competitiveness since 1996. Two years ago, VMEC began helping the state's manufacturers find, filter and fast track growth ideas using the Eureka! Winning Ways program developed by Eureka! Ranch.
Patricia Giavara, VMEC Growth Coach, will be joined by Ken Bloemer from Eureka! Ranch for a presentation on the Eureka! Innovation principles and how these can be applied to accelerate profitable growth and technology commercialization. Ken is the Executive Director of Planet Eureka!, a Global Innovation Marketplace that is the next evolution in Technology Transfer and Commercialization. His talk will focus on three key elements of true innovation:
| 1. |
Importance of stimulus, diversity and courage |
| 2. |
Marketing Physics: Dramatic Difference, Overt Benefit & Real Reason to Believe |
| 3. |
Fail Fast, Fail Cheap & Learn |
Learn how Eureka! Innovation can be applied to accelerate development and commercialization of your inventions; and how Vermont companies and inventors can participate in the new Innovation Marketplace.
VMEC
The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) is a not-for-profit center affiliated with the nationwide Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). With its headquarters hosted on the campus of Vermont Tech in Randolph Center, VMEC's primary mission is "To Improve Manufacturing in Vermont and strengthen the global competitiveness of the state's smaller manufacturers." This is done through professional consulting, one-on-one coaching and public/onsite workshops to help Vermont's manufacturers develop and deploy strategies, increase productivity, modernize manufacturing and business processes, adopt advanced technologies, eliminate wastes and reduce costs, and increase sales of profitable new products and services. VMEC staff members have access to numerous resources and are hands-on implementers of complete solutions. Confidential assistance is provided on a reasonable fee-for-service basis. In early 2006, VMEC launched the Process Strategies Group (PSG) within the Center to bring its vast Lean process improvement experience and strategy expertise to selected non-manufacturing sectors, including but not limited to: healthcare, higher education, government, and finance. More information on VMEC and VMEC-PSG is available at www.vmec.org or by calling 802-728-1432.
