Presentation: Who profits from innovations?

When does it pay to be an innovator? Though it's true that great new product ideas that meet marketplace needs are a recipe for success, research suggests that the success may not be enjoyed by the individual or firm who created the idea in the first place. Rather, the real winner could be a follower who offers a slight spin on the original innovation. It may even be that the biggest profits accrue to a firm which controls some resource or capability that the innovator depends on. The presentation will focus on the conditions under which innovators can profit from their ideas, as well as on various strategies which innovators can use to ensure that they are able to profit from their ideas.
