Scott Hardy
Chief Executive Officer, Linckia Development
Where most see obstacles, Scott Hardy sees opportunity. That's how, just two years out of college, Hardy started his first company, New England Overshoe Inc.
Back then the obstacle was slushy, wet weather that left commuters' feet wet and pant legs soggy. Hardy's answer was NEOS, the marriage of a hiking boot sole and nylon mountaineering gaiter.
New England Overshoe is now the leading maker of all-terrain performance overshoes with 16 models carried in 1,200 retail shops worldwide and championed by commuters and a broad constituency of aficionados from sled dog mushers to letter carriers.
Hardy continues to build on the NEOS success story, innovating and launching new ventures through Linckia Development, a company created in 2002 to clear obstacles and create opportunity for imaginative and problem solving businesses.
One of those ventures is ULU Footwear, a line of high-quality, casual shoes and boots that combine functionality with comfort launched by Hardy also in 2002 . ULU has grown to be a recognized causal footwear brand sold in over six hundreds of retail specialty shops and through direct mail companies in North America.
Hardy has been recognized for his innovation and business acumen over and over again including the Young Entrepreneur of Vermont award, ISDA Gold Metal - Commuter Overshoe, ISDA Bronze Metal - Industrial Overshoe and 2005 Outstanding Young Alumni Hartwick College.
Hardy is a business graduate of Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y. He lives in Charlotte, Vermont with his wife and three daughters.
